"Chris- the album looks fantastic and I have been so pleased with everything about the way you worked. I have recommended you to a friend who is getting married shortly and I have told her that if she doesnt use you then she is a fool". . this was a text from Sally - a June 2010 bride
Wedding photography
There is no such thing as a typical Wedding.
It is a very personal and intimate commitment of love between two people whilst at the same time being an occasion which brings together family and friends in a way that may not be repeated.
Each wedding draws together diverse characters and high emotions in a mix which results in a unique celebration .
Most couples will tell you that when the big day comes , everything happens so fast . When it is your turn it is inevitable that much happens which escape your notice.
As your photographer I have an eye open all the time to capture those special moments , to tell the story of the day, the spontaneity, the romance, the drama and the detail that makes the wedding yours .
I will provide a high quality record which will serve you for many years to come and enable you to enjoy the day time and time again .
Questions
Why do I need a professional photographer?
The Professional’s sole remit is to take photographs . He/she will be focussed on achieving that goal and will concentrate on getting exceptional images throughout the day .
The Professionals work doesnt stop there however as the images are then processed/ edited on specialist software to the highest quality before being presented to you. This processing alone can take twice as long as the actual wedding photography itself
Friends with cameras are well intentioned and some can take great photographs but it is an entirely different matter to set up the shots , record a whole day, edit the photographs and provide you with a complete record . It is inevitable that at some stage they will wish to take time out to socialise for themselves and if their attention drifts for just a short time they can miss a priceless moment and leave you with an incomplete record.
You will know the true effort and cost that has gone into preparing for this once in a lifetime day – do you really want to take a chance on the Photography?
What should I look for in a photographer?
Someone who can take quality photographs but also someone who you can get on with and who will get on with your family and friends. You are going to spend quite a lot of time with this person on your big day and you have to feel relaxed and happy in their company.
We have all experienced weddings where the Photographer has been difficult.
He/she may be too bossy , monopolise the bride and groom for long periods of time and alienate family and friends who are trying to take photographs for themselves.
You want someone who enjoys their job and who listens to what you want from the day rather than just telling you what he(she) will do.
You haven’t mentioned cheap as well?
Of course cost is important but as with any profession there are photographers who get business because they are cheap – not because they are doing a good job.
Maybe they use sub standard equipment, cut down on the hours or maybe they just know that their work is not good enough to justify charging correctly.
The car will go back, your cake will be eaten, the dress put away.
The Photographs will be with you as the single lasting memory of the day. – get value for money – don’t just get cheap.
Why should we consider booking you?
I have always worked in the “ service sector” - with a simple belief that if the Customer has been kind enough to appoint me to work for them then the very least that i can do is my best for them.
I work hard at what I do- most people are surprised by the hours and commitment – but at the end of the day I want you to be delighted that you employed my services and happily recommend me to your friends and colleagues.
I have been a Photographer for over 30 years and in that time have photographed many lovely weddings. I deliberately restrict the number that I do in a year purely because i never want to feel that it is a “ job of work “ but always want to be fired up and enthusiastic for each wedding that I attend.
Well before your big day arrives we will have agreed the role you want me to play – usually a mixture of formal and informal shots . I am relaxed and easy going in my approach and recognise that working with the casual photographers helps us all to get the photographs we want on the day.
The itinery will not restricted by time – and typically starts with the brides early preparations and goes through to either the cutting of the cake, perhaps the first dance or maybe it’s when the bride and groom leave the reception - depending upon your event and requirements.
Having returned to my studio I will undertake post processing and editing - and then show you the draft images to go to the next stage.
Your wedding album should last a lifetime and the albums are of the highest quality and will be beautiful memories of the day. The design will be elegant, artistic and above all timeless. I always get a buzz when i hand the album over and the couple feel and see for the first time the quality.
If you want to see examples of my work visit the wedding section at my gallery and then take a peak at my blog which has a section dedicatated to weddings.
Wedding photography prices
No matter how good a photographer I may be, I realise that everyone has a budget and whilst we would all love to have the very best of everything it is sometimes just not possible. For this reason I have thought long and hard about the costs for 2010 and come up wth some solutions that will help you to get the very best value for money.
I wish to be judged by results and so at the outset you will simply be asked to commit to the Photography Fee - which is my fee for attending your wedding and photographing the day.
Many of you will have seen the press with some appalling photographs taken by alleged Photographers and I am so confident that you will be delighted with what we achieve together that I am happy to leave any further choices until after the shoot when you can see the Photographs for yourself .
You will be given the option of choosing an Album/Storybook /DVD etc.. or you can decide to delay your decision FOR UP TO 2 MONTHS after the date of the wedding. The price quoted on the date of our first meeting will however be maintained for that whole period.
The advantage to this, apart from obviously delaying the cost, is that if you wait until you have seen the Proofs then you are in a far better position to choose how many Photographs you want to include in your album. You can weigh this against the quality of the album and make a conscious decision to stay within a fixed budget.
You can view a sample DVD and decide if this is something that you wish to invest in.
You may even be one of the lucky ones and find that your nearest and dearest gift an album to you - maybe thats an idea to include on your wedding list.
Photography Fee
This is a one off fee for me to attend your wedding and to shoot for up to 12 hours.
