I got up early….

January 28, 2010

…as we all do and strode along the promenade at teignmouth with my tripod and camera in hand enjoying the early morning frost when i saw these ladies getting into their boat to undertake a training session. Rather them than me.

I promised to post the photographs that they kindly let me take of them :

Nigel and Nicky asked…

if i could take some photographs of their 4 beautiful daughters.

The trouble was that the girls wont accept that nature has blessed them with beauty but were insistant that ” only shoot my right side”, ” dont let my teeth show”, “can you photoshop out spots?”

Please judge for yourselves

So much for new years resolutions…

…mine was to keep this blog up to date.

This is a quiet time of year for weddings but I took the opportunity to catch up on a few of those things that you cant make time for when you are busy. I revamped my dvd software and undertook training to take that to the next level. I took a trip to look at the new breed of wedding albums and they look great with further updates in March. I looked at some new camera equipment – boys and their gadgets eh?

A small flurry of commercial shoots have come my way but for reasons of confidentiality I cannot post images on the web. Exciting times for certain client companies who are not only fending off the recession but actively growing. Thanks for the business guys.

I said Weddings were quiet but there has been an engagement shoot and my first wedding of the year. A couple of Portrait sessions too as business gains momentum for 2010. I have quite a few projects ahead but i wont tempt fate by saying too much until they are ready to go. For now ….

Christmas wedding…

December 28, 2009

With their wedding in December and their honeymoon being a family trip to Lapland, Karen and Chris decided that they would carry the Christmas theme through . A really friendly laid back couple, Chris set the romantic tone with a lovely card and bouquet to his bride which arrived as she started to get ready and the day continued that way. The weather did its best to upset proceedings with constant driving rain but the warmth inside the Merry Harriers more than made up for it. Additional entertainment was provided by Luke Warm who drew excellent caractures of the principal guests and a magician who kept his audience mesmerised.

Engagement shoot…

Maria and Gary are based in Hertfordshire but are getting married in Somerset and they have kindly asked me to photograph the occassion.

They had come home for Christmas and so we used the opportunity to get together for a brief shoot at Budleigh Salterton to give us a chance to get to know each other. It was very very chilly and the sun over the sea was very bright but we got some great shots . These were amongst them

We are making ourselves more accessible and more convenient to you by setting up our portable studio in various locations throughout Devon.

Not only that but the cost of a photograph means that a Christmas Portrait should be in everyone’s price range and make Christmas 2009 one that will be remembered for years to come .

Christmas portraits ..

November 17, 2009

are such a lovely personal gift. They are a unique snapshot of a particular time and will surely outlast anything else that you may find its way in Father Christmas’ sack.

The image that follows is for grandparents in Italy who so loved the photographs that we shot from last year that they have asked for more.

This particular one was taken in a studio but i have a full range of portable lights and backgrounds that enables me to get the same type of shot from your front room

its such a great feeling ….

November 9, 2009

…when people dramatically increase their original order. It means that the reality is so much better than their initial expectation.

When I quote for any new business , the customer is buying a concept of how it will be and what the photographs will look like . To hear how ” wonderful” the photographs are and that a wedding customer is ordering 4 times the original number of Photographs – gives such a buzz.

When a client who wanted a single photograph decides to buy 7 to ” solve all my Christmas present issues” – you realise that you are getting it right.

I do love this ” work”.

PS- Just heard that I have a photograph going into an International Magazine on a 2 page spread
